FMFX

FM-FX is an International collective of sound artists, composers and performers who collaborate and create experimental music. They focus on live electronic music and/or improvisation, often in combination with acoustic instruments. These artists carry out experiments related to psychoacoustic and sensorial perception. In this way they develop a unique and creative language. Their pieces become immersive experiences by means of technology, a melting-pot of new sounds. FM-FX’s works are presented in live concerts where their individual projects merge together. Electroacoustic and acousmatic music, noise and audio-visual performances, are combined in heterogeneous journeys through their avant-garde sonic realms.

MEINRAD KNEER

Meinrad Kneer is a bass player, composer, improviser, band-leader and label owner and moves along the musical boundaries of jazz, improvised, contemporary-composed and ethnic music. From 1995 to 1999 he studied double bass and music in the Netherlands (conservatories of Hilversum and Amsterdam), where he quickly entered the Dutch jazz- and subsequently the international scene of free improvisation. In 2002 he receives one of the most prestigious Dutch music awards: the 'Jur Naessens Music Award' for the project 'New Anatomy', realized with his band 'Dalgoo' (co-led from 1998-2005 with reed player Tobias Klein) and inspired by the work of the Russian writer Daniil Kharms. From 2007 to 2011 he organized the concert series 'U-Ex(perimental)' devoted to free improvisation, in cooperation with flutist Mark Alban Lotz, the Centraal Museum and the SJU Jazz Podium in Utrecht (NL). He currently lives in Berlin and leads the Meinrad Kneer Quintet, the Trio Baars / Kneer / Elgart, the Phosphoros Ensemble, and works as a co-leader in the groups Rose/ Kneer/ Barrett, Sequoia, Spoon 3 and Willers/ Kneer/ Marien. During the last years he has been touring extensively in most countries of Western and Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Turkey, Morocco and Mexico. His internationally renowned label 'Evil Rabbit Records', founded together with pianist Albert van Veenendaal in 2006, is dedicated to contemporary improvised music rooted in the European culture.

MONOTAK

Monotàk is a collective of 10 composers who first came together in 2012 to create a broad range of events, from contemporary classical concerts to sound installations and sonic happenings. Often performing themselves the members of Monotàk have very diverse musical styles with influences from jazz and electronic improvisation to pop and classical. What binds this group is an appreciation of each other’s work and the desire to collaborate, working with the diversity within the group and so expanding their own boundaries. Branching out (tàkking uit) from this artistic collaboration, Monotàk regularly works with other like-minded organizations and individuals, also from other disciplines such as visual art and dance. The growing strength of our activities reflects the possibility of developing compelling relationships through music, whether with our peers and colleagues or with the audience.

JON ROSE

Jon Rose is an Australian violinist born in the UK in 1951.[1] Rose began playing violin at age 7 after winning a music scholarship to King's School in Rochester. For over 35 years, Rose has been at the sharp end of new, improvised, and experimental music and media. A polymath, he is as much at home creating large environmental multi-media works as he is playing the violin on a concert stage. Central to this practice has been 'The Relative Violin' project, a unique output, rich in content, realising almost everything on, with, and about the violin and string music in general. Most celebrated is the worldwide Fence project; least known are the relative violins created specifically for and in Australia. He has appeared on over 60 albums, and worked with artists such as Kronos Quartet, Derek Bailey, Fred Frith, Shelley Hirsh, Chris Cutler, Otomo Yoshihide, KK Null, Alvin Curran, Evan Parker, Phil Minton, John Cage, Tony Oxley, Steve Beresford, Eugene Chadbourne, Bob Ostertag, Jim Denley, Elliott Sharp, George Lewis, Christian Marclay, Toshinori Kondo, Joelle Leandre, Frances-Marie Uitti, Barre Phillips and John Zorn.
